One size doesn’t fit all. Using the same program for everyone may cause more harm than you know. When developing programs for different clients have you taken into consideration all their strengths and deficits? Beyond the Basics Shoulder was developed in order to take you behind the scenes, so you can see what happens when your client gets injured. You will learn to assess them with precision and find out how to progress their program pre/post injury and when to slow down. The big bonus is you will get to see what treatment techniques your clients go through and see what evidence supports those techniques. When you know what is happening behind treatment doors you can be more effective than the trainer that is clueless.
Program SummaryBoth workshops will teach how to integrate modern pre and post injury exercise techniques with your Personal Training clients. Move your clients from injury to maximum performance. Learn assessments that are relevant to health coaches and trainers, and observe demonstrations of techniques used by specialists to accelerate healing and improve exercise performance. Videos and live demonstrations will be used to facilitate learning.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will learn
- Gain an understanding of shoulder anatomy and learn relationships between joints, surrounding structures and bone
- Understand joint dynamics and its affect on strength, motion and pain patterns.
- Complete a visual assessment from posterior and lateral view points
- Understand how postural deficits affects muscular performance and healing
- Observe a full presentation with orthopedic, neurological and structural examination to learn the details of examinations that injured clients may undergo during medical evaluations
- Learn proper palpation skills with emphasis on pressure and touch sensitivity
- Develop the ability to feel for landmarks in the shoulder and determine various structures based on location and palpation
- Observe and learn non invasive muscular strength testing to determine deficits in athletic performance
- Observe and learn non invasive muscle length testing to determine deficits that contribute to limited mobility and motion
- Observe neurological and orthopedic testing to see how clinicians determine how to proceed with injured clients
- Observe and understand myofasical techniques that clinicians may use on injured clients and when these procedures are contraindicated
