NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are fitness professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train clients and athletes for the primary goal of improving
performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programmes and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention.

Who becomes CSCS certified and why?

The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) programme, created in 1985, distinguishes individuals who possess the knowledge and skills to design and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning programmes for amateur and professional athletes. The programme encourages a high level of competence among practitioners and raises the quality of strength training and conditioning programmes.

Today, more than 21,000 professionals from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds hold this prestigious certificate, including strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, personal trainers, physicians, chiropractors, researchers and educators.

The CSCS is the only strength training and conditioning certification to be nationally accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) in the United States. It has been nationally accredited since 1993.

Strength and conditioning is the “art” of helping athletes  reach their potential by developing the appropriate strength training regimen. You will learn to periodise training to help your clients get better, but also help them avoid injuries. The course also touches on nutrition and other topics.

The course we are offering is definitely intense. It is to prepare you to pass the challenging CSCS exam (theory only exam)  which will be booked (with our help) after completion of the live workshop.

Who can apply & Requirements?

Candidates must submit an original, official transcript of at least a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) granted by a university recognized by the Ministry of Education. University students in their last year can also take the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist exam if currently enrolled in an accredited institution, however the NSCA will not release exam scores until graduation can be confirmed.

You also need to have a valid CPR+AED Certification to sit the exam. However, as you are in the process of finishing your degree, you are also eligible.

Download the Certification Handbook here, developed to provide certification candidates and certificants with the information needed to earn and maintain certification through the NSCA.
