Fitness professionals need to know how to evaluate the scientific merit of articles and advertisements about exercise and nutrition products so they can help their clients separate marketing hype from scientifically based training and nutritional practices.
Course Objective
This course is designed to give you a practical working knowledge of sport nutrition based on current scientific knowledge.On completion of the course, you will be able to give good advice on basic sport nutrition to athletes, fitness leaders and the publicinterested in improving their nutrition knowledge for health and sport. At the least, you will find the information useful in helping you toreach your nutrition goals. At the end of the course, you will find it easier to determine the best food choices and hopefully will help you feel better, perform better and recover more quickly from training and hard workouts.
Course Content
The course will cover the following main topics:
1. Nutrition for health and optimal performance,
2. How food components affect training and competition
3. Digestion and timing of meals and what to eat before, during and after exercise
4. Weight management strategies for muscle building, weight gain as well as fat burning and weight loss.
5. Food supplementation and ergogenic aids – how to evaluate the scientific merit of nutritional supplements
for weight gain, weight loss and performance enhancement.
Successful completion of the course results in the award of a FIT certificate of Fuelling Performance
Upon completion, you can opt to take the ISSN – SNS certification exam.
